Responsible gaming
Safer play
Emberlowe is free entertainment for adults. There is no real money play and nothing to buy — but the feelings games create are real, and habits are habits. Here is how to keep it fun, and where to find help.
In short: Emberlowe is free, play-money entertainment for adults. Members can set reminders, breaks and self-exclusion in their account, and free, confidential UK support is listed below.
Our promises
- Emberlowe is for adults aged 18 and over. We ask for your date of birth when you join and close accounts we believe belong to under-18s.
- There is no real money play, no prizes of monetary value and no way to buy Embers.
- We do not use countdowns, "last chance" offers or rewards that disappear if you stay away.
- Breaks and self-exclusions are enforced on our server, on every device, and cannot be shortened.
- We never suggest that playing here will help you win at real-money gambling.
Tips for keeping it fun
- Decide how long you want to play before you start, and set a play reminder to match.
- Take regular breaks — stand up, stretch, do something else for a while.
- Play when you are in a good mood, not to escape stress, boredom or low feelings.
- Remember that every result is random. There are no patterns to learn and no "due" wins.
- Keep a balance with friends, family, work, sleep and other hobbies.
Warning signs
Free games can still take up more time or attention than you want. It might be time to pause if you notice that you:
- play for longer than you planned, again and again;
- feel restless or irritable when you are not playing;
- use games to escape problems or difficult feelings;
- hide how much you play from people close to you;
- are tempted to try real-money gambling to "win for real", or already gamble with money you cannot afford to lose.

Keeping Emberlowe 18+
Emberlowe is only for adults. Here is how we check, what the check cannot do, and how you can help.
How the check works
- On your first visit we ask whether you are 18 or over. Until you confirm, the question stays in front of every page; if you answer no, the site stays closed.
- Creating an account asks for your date of birth, and our server refuses anyone under 18 — the browser cannot skip this step.
- If we have reason to believe a member is under 18, we close the account and delete its data.
What it cannot do
Answering the age question and entering a date of birth are statements you make, not an identity check. We do not ask for passports or other ID documents, because Emberlowe takes no payments and holds nothing of value. That is why the help of parents and carers matters.
For parents and carers
- Use the family controls built into Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and your broadband router to block gaming sites on a child's device.
- Give children their own user profile on shared computers and tablets, so an adult's age confirmation or login is not carried over.
- Log out of Emberlowe on any device a child can use, and do not share your password.
- Internet Matters has practical, free guides for families, and Childline is free and confidential for young people on 0800 1111.
Report an under-18 user
If you think someone under 18 is using Emberlowe, email hello@emberlowe.com or use the contact form with whatever you know, such as a display name. We look into every report, close accounts that belong to under-18s and delete their data. To remove what a guest left in a browser, clear the site data on that device — our Cookie settings can do it in one tap.
